Evaluating caregivers arrangement of infant sleeping environments in the home


When: Wednesday April 26th 6pm - 8pm Eastern 

Abstract: Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) is the leading cause of death for infants under 12 months old. This presentation will explore the application of behavior analytic principles to this issue of public health. Specifically, research will be presented on the efficacy of a performance-based and criterion-based parent training model which has been deployed across the city of Philadelphia in community-based health centers. Additionally, this talk will also feature research exploring the durability and generality of safe infant sleep arrangements to the home, efficiency of parent training models and building community partnerships. Bio: Lauren Schnell-Peskin Ph.D., BCBA-D has worked in the field of applied behavior analysis, serving families of individuals with and without autism spectrum disorder, for nearly 15 years. She has provided consultation to individuals across the lifespan in school, hospital, clinic and mental health settings and has served as an adjunct lecturer in several colleges and universities in both New Jersey and New York. Dr. Schnell completed her Ph.D. in Applied Behavior Analysis from Caldwell University and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Applied Behavior Analysis programs at Hunter College where she teaches graduate courses and mentors thesis students in her research lab. Dr. Schnell has published in areas such as teacher and parent training, evidence-based practices in higher education, efficiency of instruction, verbal behavior, and stimulus equivalence-based instruction in books and several peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at local, national, and international conferences. She has served as a guest reviewer for journals such as the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, The Analysis of Verbal Behavior, The International Journal of Developmental Disabilities, Psychological Record, Young Exceptional Children, The Journal of Behavioral Education, and the Education and Treatment of Children and is on the board of editors for The Analysis of Verbal Behavior. Her research interests include teacher training in higher education, efficiency of instruction, and behavior analytic technologies to address sustainability and social justice.
